Building Bern

The architecture guide uses texts and pictures to portray 84 buildings built in Bern and the surrounding area over the last twenty years. The guide, structured according to the districts of the city, mirrors Bern's recent dynamism in the house-building sector in particular, but also in other building projects. In addition to the main buildings, there are 40 short portraits of important buildings dating back over more than a century. The introduction embeds the buildings within the context of urban development and the architectural scene. Detailed plans featuring the nearest stops for the S-Bahn railway, tram and bus turn the publication into a practical guide for walking tours through the capital and its surroundings.
