Introductory Essay by Lord David Cecil
"A victorian Album" is possibly the most beautiful, probably one of the earliest, and certainly the most characteristic of all photographic albums. When it was sold at 'Southeby's' in 1974 it obtained a world record price and this book is as close as possible, whit the technics of mordern printing ,to being a facsimile of a major work of art of the victorian period.
Julia Margaret Cameron, acknowledged as one of the greatest portrait photographers of all time and finest photographer of her era, presented the original of this album, bound in leather and with the name mounted in it in metal, to Maria Jackson, known as Mia, one of Mrs Cameron's six sisters.
