A Celebration of 150 years of Jardine, Matheson & Co. This lavishly illustrated volume has been specially compiled to mark the 150th anniversary of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Founded in Canton in 1832, this company has been built up, principally from bases in the East, to become an international trading house with business interests throughout the world.
To reflect these years, the editor Maggie Keswick, has assembled contributions both from leading historians of the period, such as Professor John King Fairbank and Professor K.C. Lui, as well as old Jardine hands, including Alan Reid and her father, Sir John Keswick. The result ist a fascinating miscellany of scholarship and anecdote drawn in generous measure from the life and times of "The Princely Hong".
