Discovering history

We are very happy to associate the name of Chopard with the Swiss National Museum in Prangins Chateau, for two reasons. The first is that our profession as watchmakers forms a natural part of the history of our country, and the most important technical progress in this field look place in the 18th century. The first Chopard watch dates from 1860. The picture of Switzerland at that time, with all its diversity, as it is presented to us at Prangins, can thus not by any means be indifferent to us. Rediscovering the history of our country is in fact one way to understand better our profession and its origins. The second reason is our deep attachment to the municipality of Prangins, where our family has been domiciled for a number of years, and our pride in seeing the museum established here. It therefore seemed natural that Chopard should offer to support the Swiss National Museum in Prangins Chateau, and it is both an honour and a pleasureto collaborate with those who have laboured untiringly in order to bring this difficult task to a successful conclusion.
