The Order of the Dominicans, of which Father Albert Carpentier is a member, was founded at the beginning of the 13rd century, by saint Dominic, to promote the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since that time, like the Apostles, the Dominicans have presented the Gospel by by different means: the word, the book, music, paintings, etc. Everyone knows Fra Angelico, the most famed of the Dominican painters.
Father Carpentier, who has lived thirty years in Japan, and with whom I am working at the house of students in Shinjuku, has made known, from Hokkaido to Kyushu, the evangelical message, in churches and monasteries, by his stained glasses, his paintings, his mosaics and his wood block paintings; he has also illustrated religious books. Moreover his works are known in different exhibtions held in Japan, in Europa and in America.
